THE NORTH IS PREPARED FOR NIGERIANS BREAKUP SAYS NORTHERN ELDERS FIRUM LEADER, ANGO ABDULLAHI

Spokesman of the Northern Elders Forum, a think-tank for the 19 Northern states, Prof. Ango Abdullahi may have unwittingly caused the settled dust of the need for Nigeria’s breakup into smaller units to rise and swirl around.  In an interview with Sunday Sun in his farm in Zaria recently, Ango, a politician, professor of Agronomy, one-time Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University who attended four constitutional conferences in Nigeria threw a challenge to those who think that the North is afraid of Nigeria’s disintegration into more basic constituents, saying the North was ever ready for the dissolution and that the way to go about it was through the calling of a formal meeting with complete powers to terminate the legal relationships between the constituent parts in Nigeria. According to him, If we agree that we should live together as a people and as a country, so be it, but if the general consensus is that Nigerians want to go their separate ways either on the basis of ethni...

THE UNTOLD STORY OF MASABA, THE MAN WHO LIVED AND DIED, LIVING 203 CHILDREN AND 130 WIVES,

By WOLE MOSADOMI  There is time for everything in life. There is a time to be born and a time to die but, in between the two times, one has the opportunity to choose the type of life he wants to live. Some have passion to acquire wealth, some houses, some exotic cars, some clothes, some, especially women, jewelry, some shoes.  On the marital side, some men have chosen to remain with one wife, some with more than one, while few others abstain from getting married either on religious grounds or on personal basis. However, for the late Malam Muhammad Abubakar Bello Masaba, he chose to marry dozens of wives and subsequently gave birth to scores of children. Masaba, as he was popularly called, came into limelight in 2008 when his romantic lifestyle was exposed. As of that time, he was 88 years and had 113 wives out of which seven died and 20 divorced, leaving him with 86 wives and 190 children.   LIFE BEFORE 1980  Our correspondent reliably gathered Masaba was a tradi...

EFCC MOVES AGAINST AYO FAYOSE AGAIN, FREEZES HIS ZENITH BANK ACCOUNT AGAIN

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, on Saturday said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had again frozen his personal accounts with Zenith Bank. The governor said the bank refused to honour his cheque based on a directive from the EFCC when he went there on Friday. This came three days after a Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, dismissed a motion for stay of execution of the judgment unfreezing the accounts for lacking in merit. Justice Taiwo Taiwo while ruling on the motion filed by the EFCC against his judgment unfreezing the accounts and delivered on December 13 said that “once a judgment is being executed, you cannot stay the execution again.” Fayose said, “This is the impunity we are condemning. The bank and the EFCC got all the judgments of the court, but the agency still harassed the bank to act against the law. If I sent somebody with a cheque, they could give excuse but I was there myself; acts of impunity such as this cannot continue. We will challenge them.”...
