COURT SACK REPS MEMBER BECAUSE OF PRIMARY ELECTION

‎A Federal High Court in Abuja has removed Mr. Dennis Amadi as member of the House of Representatives, representing Udi/Ezeagu Federal Constituency of Enugu State. Delivering judgment on Friday,  Justice Okon Abang held that the purported Peoples Democratic Party’s primary that produced Amadi was “illegal, null and void”. He ordered Amadi to vacate his seat and also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission, the 3rd defendant, in the suit to immediately withdraw the certificate of return it earlier issued to Amadi.‎The judge affirmed Ogbuefi Ozomgbachi as the rightful candidate of the PDP in the 2015 general election in the constituency having emerged as the authentic primary of the party held  on December 6, 2014. The judge also ordered INEC to issue certificate of return to Ozomgbachi. ‎The judge ruled, “After a careful reading through the submissions of counsel in the suit, I note that the election of the plaintiff was conducted at the designated ven...

CASH CRUNCH HITS MINISTERS, AIDES COMPLAIN BITTERLY CONSIDER EXIT OPTIONS

Barely one month after President Muhammadu Buhari signed the 2016 federal budget into law, there are strong indications that the implementation of the budget has not effectively taken off, resulting in a cash crunch in Ministries, Departments and Agencies ( MDAs) as well an atmosphere of disillusionment among government officials. Buhari had, on May 6, 2016, assented to the N6.06 trillion budget amidst fanfare, just as financial analysts warned that the actual success lay in the implementation of the provision of the budget. It was based on a revenue projection of USD$38 per barrel of crude oil and a production regime of 2.2 million barrels per day. However, the hopes raised by the fiscal document dimmed when the Niger Delta Avengers ( NDA) and other militant groups launched a sustained attack on oil and gas facilities strategic to achieving the goals of the budget. Following the spate of vandalism visited on these oil installations, Nigeria’s crude oil production has crashed to a...

FAYOSE SAYS COUNT ME OUT OF SCHOOL FEEDING, SEE WHY HE SAYS HE WONT CONTRIBUTE TO THE PROGRAMME

Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose has said that he would not contribute to the school feeding programme that was launched a few days ago by the Federal government. He said the Federal Government was already looking for an excuse for the impending failure of the programme by asking states to contribute 40 per cent to the scheme. The governor, who said his state was interested in the scheme, added that the school feeding programme was purely a contract between the APC-led Federal Government and Nigerians. “Were the States consulted before the APC made the promise during the presidential campaign? How can you make a promise and win election on the basis of that promise and now expect States to help you to fulfil the promise? That to me is fraud!” Fayose in a statement issued on Sunday by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said Ekiti and other states in the country deserved to benefit from the programme without assisting the federal governme...
